Pilates Class Descriptions

 

Pilates Mat Level 1

This a beginning level class in Pilates matwork for all those new to method or wishing to review of the basic introductory principles of the Pilates method of body conditioning. The concepts of alignment, breath and control will be learned, as will all of the beginning mat exercises. No prior knowledge of Pilates is required.

Mat Level 2

Mat 2 is designed to develop the Pilates vocabulary to include intermediate level matwork. The pace increases, as well as the strength level, demanding concentration, control and the ability to work in alignment. Mat Level 1 proficiency or prior intermediate level matwork is required.

Mat Level 3

Mat 3 is an advanced level class. This is a fast-paced, challenging mat class that requires considerable strength and control. Complete knowledge of intermediate level matwork is required, as well as the permission of the instructor.

Reformer Level 1

Reformer Level 1 is an introduction to the reformer. The basic principles of Pilates will be introduced, as well as the beginning exercises and securities of the reformer. Proficiency in beginning level matwork is required. This is an equipment class and is limited to 4 participants. Please sign up prior to class.

Reformer Level 2

Reformer Level 2 is a continuation of Reformer Level 1 introducing the intermediate level of exercises on the reformer. The skill level increases, as well as the strength level.

Reformer Level 3

Advanced Reformer material is introduced along with a solid intermediate review. This class is for advanced students only and requires the approval of the director. 

Tower Level 1

This is a basic tower class that introduces the student to the wall unit, a spring based apparatus derived from the cadillac. Tower requires a strong core to control the springs and the push through bar safely and effectively. Proficiency in intermediate level matwork is required.

Tower Level 2

Tower Level 2 is an intermediate level tower class that continues to challenge the student with more advanced spring work. This class is a faster paced and more demanding, and requires a healthy body at the intermediate advanced level. Proficiency in intermediate or advanced level matwork, Tower Level 1 and the permission of the instructor is required.

Wunda Chair

The Wunda chair is the ultimate challenge! This is a complete core workout, demanding a solid intermediate knowledge of Pilates. The Wunda chair requires the use of strength, centering, balance and control to perform each exercise. A thorough knowledge of intermediate or advanced Pilates is required, as well as Mat Level 2 or 3 proficiency.

Pure Pilates Ball

This class is designed to challenge the core with the stability ball, weights and the magic circle. Pure Ball class uses Pilates matwork as the base and requires prior mat experience.

Pure Pilates Fit

Using weights, magic circles and weighted poles, this modified mat class challenges the core and builds definition. For a high powered kick to your matwork, try Pure Fit! Proficiency in intermediate matwork recommended.

Pure Pilates Flow

Pure Flow works the transitions and flow of the intermediate level mat class by building the exercises one by one. This is a non-stop, high energy intermediate mat classs that requires proficiency in intermediate matwork.
